Definitions, are a very powerful tool and those who can use it effectively leave the impressions of most learned and intelligent.
The outcome achieved when a steady habit of using a dictionary and looking a word up, when you run across one we didn’t know, is a very effective method of learning… any concept.
When you get to experience anything in a vivid frame of reference you get left with the impression of being much more akin to the experience
Any definition in order to be clear and precise must posess the following two attributes:
- be all-inclusive (cover all possible interpretations)
- not be iterative (not use itself to define... itself)
(ex: you can't say "information is... something informative)
... out of necessity.
whether you’ve had your computer infected from phony sites, or been ripped off by some well articulated scammer, or have spent countless hours of looking for the surely available information, only to withdraw relentlessly – it’s all because of the overwhelming lack of ‘quality information’ in the huge WEB out there.
Yet, the mental model which we have of information still dictates to us in a subconscious level that quality information is an outcome outside of the range of our abilities.
That’s right – the quality of information is very much a tangible concept, even one which many educated folk have tried to appraise, at various times.
